Food Waste Friday

FoodWasteFriday

Kristin at The Frugal Girl hosts Food Waste Friday every week posting about any and all of her family's food waste during the week. Her idea is to minimize food waste as much as possible and she invites other bloggers to do the same.

This was a good week! I only threw away about 1 oz of expired Louisiana Hot Sauce. However, we need to eat some things this coming week or next week's results won't be very good.

I was wondering: Has lowering your food waste led to a lower grocery bill? I haven't been doing this long enough to get good numbers yet, but I would think that it would. That would be a bonus!

  1. It has lowered my grocery bill quite a bit. We entertain a lot and I like to cook a lot so if I don't watch the leftovers like a hawk we have tonnes of waste.

  2. It absolutely did!We try to eat more leftovers and substitute things. And it helps us to shop less which always saves money :)

  3. I haven't tracked the exact numbers, but we're definitely buying less at the grocery store since we waste less.

  4. I need to add up our grocery costs for May (I'm so far behind!), but I know I haven't spent as much as past months. Although, I'm also trying to use up the stuff in the freezer so that has helped with costs.
